Guppy

Hello,

I am a PhD student in University of Bergen studying fisheries - induced evolution.
I want to test parasite resistance in guppies. Laboratory populations are simulation of what happens to oceans experiencing commercial fishing.

Our lab is looking for Gyrodactylus parasite which is a common guppy parasite, often found in wild populations and can be found in home aquariums as well, usually after a new purchase from a pet shop.

Research articles show that they can be found in simple Pet shops, which we tried, but our search has been unsuccessful till now.

If you have experienced guppies infected with Gyrodactilus, whose symptoms are usually erratic swimming, flat fins, can be colour fading, I would appreciate if you get in contact with me and maybe share some of the parasites.

This is our laboratory official web page, where you can find research done before: https://www.uib.no/en/rg/evofish

You can also contact me in Norwegian.

When paper is published in Scientific journal your name is going to be in official Aknowledgements section.

Mvh,
Vitalija
